katerine lev questioned:

Psoriasis is a chronic illness affecting the skin and the scalp. With the cause unknown and no permanent cure as yet learned, those afflicted with psoriasis are forced to endure the dry, flakey skin that is the primary outward symptom of the disease and that causes much mental and emotional anguish, due mainly to the reaction from others and the dread of infection – this despite the known fact that psoriasis is in no way contagious!

Many medicines, creams, lotions and treatments for psoriasis are available. Some are based on natural ingredients; some contain hormones and steroids, with the possibility of side effects. All of the medicines plea constant usage in order to realize an effect that is, for the most part, only partial and small lived. Many treatments plea regular repeat sessions that interrupt the normal life of the psoriasis sufferer and can cost substantial sums of money.

But, one psoriasis treatment that has been proven both scientifically and statistically to provide long term – up to nine months – remission with no need for repeat or booster treatments is a course of treatments at the Dead Sea.

Psoriasis treatments at the Dead Sea take advantage of the unique physical qualities of the area: an exceptionally high saline and mineral content in the water and the mud that both removes the skin hurt by psoriasis and cleanses and nourishes the fresh skin underneath, dry, impurity free air that aids recovery, a dense ozone layer that filters out the harmful UV radiation wavelengths, leaving behind only those parts of the wavelength that are beneficial to the skins recovery and lengthen the amount of time that one can be exposed to the sun’s rays without dread of adverse side effects.

Whilst it’s right that psoriasis treatments do take time – anywhere between one to four weeks – the advantage of psoriasis treatments at the Dead Sea lies in that they are 100% natural with no adverse side effects, the treatments place the psoriasis in remission for up to nine months and you can bring your family with you and have a splendid vacation whilst staying at one of the luxurious five star hotels that the area offers.

Rob questioned:

Here’s the back tale. I became dependent on Fioracet with Codeine, which was prescribed to me for nearly 3 years (stress induced headaches). Anyway, I quit taking them because I went to a different state, thus close my relationship with the doctor that prescribed them. At the same time, I had two separate dental procedures within a 2 week period and was prescribed Percocet on each occasion. After recovering from the oral surgeries, and going through the prescribed pain pills, I started to feel the effects of opiate withdrawal. It was HELL. A friend of mine told me about Suboxone and how it could ease my withdrawal pain. So, after the fourth day of misery, I went to a licensed Suboxone doctor and got a prescription. It worked splendid, and I felt back to my ancient self. I didn’t want to be on the drug very long, but a week later I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis by my primary care physician.

On my next trip back to the Sub-Doc, I told her about my new diagnosis and she told me to stay on the Suboxone because it also helps with pain. So I stayed on it for 21 months until I could no longer afford it. IRONY – the withdrawal from Suboxone lasted 4x’s as long and was at least 2x’s as intense as my previous withdrawal.

So, now that I’m off of all (except for Humira injections for my arthritis), and in constant pain, I wonder if the stigma of Suboxone will prevent a doctor from prescribing me pain relief, which I feel I need. Keep in mind, I didn’t tell the doctor that I was ever on Suboxone, but they knew (Huge Brother?). When the doc brought it up, I felt like I was instantly scrutinized. I also felt shame for the first time. Any one have any advice, suggestions?

Wayne Mcdonald questioned:

Suffering with psoriasis is no walk in the park. The dry, flaky skin, the embarrassing rashes and red patches; it’s all a lot to take. Anyone who suffers from psoriasis knows the constant struggle of learning what triggers flare-ups and then avoiding those situations. So what triggers flare-ups? Read on to fight out.

First and foremost, stress is a trigger for many illnesses and can really cause a psoriasis outbreak. Any large amount of stress on the body attacks the immune system and weakens the body’s natural defense against disease. With the weakened immune system, whatever was holding the flare-ups at bay is busy elsewhere and an outbreak pops up. The stress can be any type of stress from emotional stress to anxiety to outside sources of stress.

Skin injuries can cause serious flare-ups at the site of the injury. Any small scratch or abrasions on the skin can cause infection or psoriasis to develop. Injuries happen and can’t always be avoided. If you are injured immediately take care of the wound, cover it and add Neosporin if it’s a small cut. Taking care of all injuries aptly after they happen can help prevent outbreaks. Sunburn is also a major risk for flare-ups, partly due to the hurt it can do to skin. If you buy a sunburn, rub it with aloe so it will heal more quickly. Leaving a sunburn untreated can be cause for a painful flare-up.

Illness can trigger flare-ups as well. The most common illness for flare-ups is strep throat, especially if it lingers for awhile. This can cause flare-ups and red bumps all over the skin. Often times, this type of psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, are mistaken as a rash or allergic reaction. In most cases, with antibiotics this type of psoriasis will go away.

Some medications are responsible for flare-ups. If you have been diagnosed with psoriasis make sure to talk about the possible reactions and side effects associated with medications. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medication with lowered risks, or give a second medication to hold off an outbreak.

Learning what can trigger and outbreak, will help keep flare-ups at bay.

Jesse Ryan questioned:

Psoriasis is known to be a repulsive skin disease and there are a lot of causes that lead to the condition. It could be caused by allergies, hereditary factors as well as the deposit of toxins. For the most part, the accumulated toxins in the body are removed through the urinary tract or the bowel movement. But, if the toxins are not removed properly from the body, they would find their way out through the pores of the skin.

These toxins are developed in the body, due to our daily diet. When it comes to the psoriasis sufferers, toxins would indirectly affect the skin and suppress the immune system. The weaker immune system would start skin cells at an increased rate. These abundant cells are hard-pressed to the surface of skin, where they would involuntarily shed. This leads to the scaly patches that we often notice on psoriasis patients.

If genteel changes were to be made to the daily diet, it would reduce the amount of toxins in the body. The simplest way to start is to check the contents of all food items. It would be suggestive to cut down on consumption of foods that have a superior chemical content in them. With the reduction the amount of chemicals, the body would start dealing with toxins itself, rather than pushing it to the surface of the skin. Try using organic vegetables, fruits, fish as well as total-wheat bread. Gradually, you would notice a change in the appearance of the patches on the skin.
